Position Details:

 

The Opportunity:

 

The Research Technician will be a member of the weed science team at WSU (Washington State University) - IAREC (Irrigated Agriculture Research & Extension Center), in Prosser, WA. This position will perform professional-level work in support of research activities in weed science. The incumbent will perform a wide range of complex duties requiring advanced knowledge which include but are not limited to:

 

• Assist in conducting weed science research in lab, greenhouse and field conditions.

 

• Set up and maintain field research trials.

 

• Apply herbicide treatments, record and analyze data, prepare summary reports.

 

• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and modify equipment used for weed science.

 

• Maintain chemical inventory.

 

• Order supplies, and equipment for research when needed.

 

• Supervise part-time/student employees.

 

Additional Information:

 

This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.

 

Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end 12 months after hire date. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

 

Monthly Salary: $3,833.00- $4,450.00 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

 

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

• Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills.

 

• Position requires a high school graduation or equivalent.

 

• Experience with MS Excel and Agriculture Statistical software.

 

• Must have a valid Washington State Pesticide Applicator's license or ability to obtain one within 3 months
