Position Details:

 

Summary of Duties:

 

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for directing and managing the day to day operations of the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) Pharmacy. Responsibilities include administration in the areas of dispensing and internal control procedures for all medications and drugs; maintenance of Pharmacy inventory and automated dispensing units; and oversight of ordering, dispensing, control and security of narcotic drugs and other controlled substances, This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with government regulations concerning dispensing, records and compounding and maintaining a knowledge of best practices and new and emerging trends in pharmaceutical sciences, laws, policies and practices. Interprets, prepares, and dispenses medications; provides drug information to veterinary clinicians; provides advice regarding drug use; and approves financial transactions and setting prices. Compound, manufacture, label and dispense drugs and pharmaceutical preparations. Maintain accurate records of controlled substances dispense and ensure proper storage. Responds to patients concerns using problem solving skills, tact and discretion.

 

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime exempt.

 

Monthly Salary:

 

$11,227 - $13,940 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

 

In accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

 

• A State of Washington pharmacist license and three (3) years of pharmacy experience.

 

• One year supervisory experience.

 

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

 

• Ability to work evening and weekend shifts as required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Strong background in quality control, inventory and computer skills

 

• Experience engaging employee in the workplace through collaboration, accountability, integrity and respect.

 

• Experience working in a professional pharmacy teaching environment

 

• Experience working in veterinary pharmacy environment
