The Opportunity:
Utilize diverse knowledge base for many needs within an animal care facility with an emphasis on cleaning and maintenance. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing animal treatment and holding areas and observing animals for sickness or abnormalities. Stocking supplies, collecting, processing and distributing laundry, collection, disposal of trash and biohazardous waste. Minor equipment repair and other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Leading and assisting the AM-shift hourly employees. Work hours 5:00am - 1:30pm, Monday-Friday.
The tasks are focused on cleaning and maintenance of the small animal hospital facilities and may include cleaning and sanitizing animal treatment and holding areas; collection, processing and distribution of laundry; disposal of trash and biohazardous waste; and stocking items throughout the hospital. There is some need for moving animals between cages in order to clean/sanitize, but that is a very small part of the assigned duties.

Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$3,028.00 to $3,999.00 | Range 34 (Step A - M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with https://https/app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=357-28.
In accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
• Two years of experience as an Animal Technician 2; OR equivalent education/experience.
• Must pass WSU radiation safety training exam first time it is available.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with and caring for canine, feline, birds, and exotics.
• Experience in general maintenance and repair.
• Experience handling waste and performing custodial duties.
