Position Details:
The Opportunity:
The 4-H Special Projects Coordinator serves as the primary coordination/contact point for two grant funded programs; 4-H military teen adventure camps and the WSU C.A.R.E.S. suicide prevention program. Works with volunteers to plan and execute a broad, far-reaching array of events, services and activities to engage community and partners throughout Washington. Responsible for developing and maintaining outside partnerships, coordinating training and events, and data collection and analysis.
Required Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related experience in the program specialty. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Demonstrated teaching experience and evaluating community projects and experience in preparing educational materials for low literacy and diverse populations.
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four_3 and departmental driving standards.
• Ability to travel within targeted counties.
• While using a private or WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020and https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090).
• Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prefer a Masters Degree with three (3) years related experience.
• At least two years experience managing youth camps.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels of responsibility and experience, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Workday.
• Knowledge of WSU Business Policies and Procedures in the areas of personnel, finance, and administration.
• Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end December 31, 2025. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.
Monthly Salary: $4,869.40 - $7,304.10 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
