Director of Placement and Employer Relations, School of Accountancy Career Advisor to both undergraduate and graduate accounting students; facilitating career direction, career option and career development discussions with students. Assist students in exploring a broad array of post-graduation options, including career opportunities, continuing education, entrepreneurship, family, military service, volunteer service etc. Assist students in identifying and securing an array of experiential and career opportunities though networking trips (NetTreks), company sponsored case studies/competitions, internships, relevant study abroad opportunities, relevant part-time work, etc. Mentor and develop student's professional competencies to ensure success in the workplace post-graduation. What you'll do in this position: Directly advise and mentor 350-450 undergraduate and 400+ graduate students in the School of Accountancy in their career exploration, professional development, and internship/full-time job search and placement. Advise on resume preparation, and practice effective interview techniques, provide job offer counseling and work with students in the development and application of professional competencies required for workplace success. Oversee planning and execution of networking trips, as well as help students secure their first internship and full-time position and prepare them with soft-skill competencies required for successful career progression. Develop and strengthen relationships with recruiters, senior executives, BYU alumni and industry experts with the purpose of enabling a broad set of career and employment opportunities for BYU Marriott students. Act as the point person for coordinating, managing, and reporting all recruitment activities on behalf of the School of Accountancy Partner with faculty to develop and create recruiting/professional development curriculum, as well as generate ideas in partnership with Academic Advisor, BCC colleagues, and Board of Advisors for non-curriculum recruiting preparation and professional development evens/workshops/communications. Identify and develop critical relationships with faculty/administrative personnel from universities interested in admitting BYU School of Accounting students to their respective MAcc programs. What qualifies you for this role: Required A firm commitment to the mission of BYU Bachelor's degree (preferred degrees: Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Economics) 10 years of relevant and diverse corporate experience Experie ce with leading, developing, mentoring, evaluating, and hiring professionals. Experienced in collaborating across organizations to achieve stated objectives. Extensive professional network and demonstrated ability to develop and secure new business relationships. Preferred Master's degree and/or CPA (preferred degrees: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics) 15+ years in a diverse Fortune 500 setting Professional experience within diverse corporate environments having had direct responsibilities for managing a function, region, or business unit. Comfortable using the latest office technology.
