Actalent Mechanical Project Manager in Portland, Oregon
Actalent is currently seeking a Professionally Licensed Civil Engineer for an Oregon based company. This position will be fully remote. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee and manage various industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong history in engineering services, project management, and a passion for delivering successful projects within the oil and gas, renewable energies, or pulp and paper industries.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of projects in their entirety and work creatively to ensure their success.
Monitor and direct work on multiple projects simultaneously, acting both as a lead engineer and project manager.
Lead and direct a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers to meet customer objectives.
Manage small to large projects with engineering budgets ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000.
Oversee project schedules, scopes, and budgets, and provide status reports to clients and management.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, offering solutions based on minimal information.
Lead internal and client meetings, both web-based and in-person.
Take ownership of weekly meeting agendas and minutes to communicate key project-related issues effectively.
Estimate costs for projects, including engineering and total installed construction costs.
Manage and de-escalate conflicts with clients and within the project team.
Act as the lead discipline engineer on any size projects, demonstrating high proficiency within your engineering discipline.
Complete engineering calculations within your discipline and apply relevant codes accurately.
Develop engineering documents according to industry, project, company, and client standards.
Review drawings for interferences with other disciplines and interact effectively with other engineering disciplines.
Collect field notes during trips to client sites and consider the impacts of design changes on the entire project.
Communicate design change impacts to other departments effectively.
Essential Skills
8+ years of combined experience as a senior engineer and project manager in industrial projects.
Experience working directly with clients and managing projects from concept through construction, including start-up and commissioning.
Technical field and client job site experience in oil and gas, refinery, pulp and paper, or other industrial environments.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (mechanical or chemical engineering preferred).
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is desired; must be willing to obtain if not currently held.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Solid listening skills and the ability to think creatively to meet client needs and budgets.
Self-motivated, able to work independently and lead a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, web meeting software, and PDF markup software.
Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project and Navisworks Freedom.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience promoting the company and seeking out new work with existing and prospective clients.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong professional relationships.
Desire for continuous improvement of personal and team skill sets.
Willingness to travel approximately 10-25% of the time throughout the western United States with some national travel.
Work Environment
This position offers a 100% remote work schedule with likely several short trips each year. Travel requirements are typically 10-25%.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
PTO, Holiday pay (NY day, Memorial day, Independence day, Labor day, Thanksgiving and day after, Christmas Day, if holidays fall on a Saturday, company takes Friday, Sunday, Monday off). Medical coverage with company covering portion of premiums (benefits package on file, reach out for full coverage options). Dental, Vision, FSA options. 401K 50% match up to 6%. Bonus offerings depending on individual and company performance, can vary year to year on %.
9/80 schedule and salaried for first 40 hours and straight time for every hour worked over 40 hours. Paid for every 40 hours worked.
