We are a global organization and are seeking a Reliability Mechanic or Technician in our Fairview, Oregon facility that is responsible for maintaining many of our test products.

Hyster-Yale Material Handling is looking for an energetic individual who is well suited to work in a dynamic team environment where they would be required to work effectively with individuals with a broad range of responsibilities and who will have a positive influence on the organization and the success of our future products.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanic I or II level

  • Maintain fleet of forklifts in various stages of development for maximum vehicle uptime (including but not limited to tune ups, fluid and filter changes, tire changing, brake adjustments and brake shoe replacements)

  • Troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics of down equipment

  • Perform general preventative maintenance on company vehicles and facility equipment as directed

  • Maintain service and test records

  • Communicate with local companies to obtain parts as needed

  • Ability to operate various types and models of forklift trucks or other mobile equipment

  • Send out daily status emails

Technician or Sr. Tech. level (in addition to above)

  • Identify and document development issues while working closely with Test and Design Engineers

  • Higher level documentation and tracking of vehicle usage and reporting out of the daily status

  • Possible local travel to interface with external customers or vendors (<5% of the time)

  • Part fabrication or modifications as needed with metalworking tools and welders.

Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of experience with automotive and/or industrial equipment

  • Highly motivated with self-direction and with limited supervision

  • Detail oriented

  • Use and ownership of general mechanic type hand tools

  • Must possess a current driver’s license

  • Ability to operate or prior usage of lift trucks, we will train and provide HYMH certification

  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, crouch, reach and able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic computer skills - MS Word, Outlook and Excel preferred

  • Coursework towards or completion of formal mechanic training or is a plus

Preferred Qualifications for Technician or Sr Tech. level (plus above)

  • Associate of Science Degree or equivalent certifications

  • Welding and Fabrication experience a plus

  • General understanding of engineering drawings

  • Familiar with mobile hydraulics and electronics

  • Hands-on demonstrated abilities in fabrication, general mechanical and electrical repair including troubleshooting issues of complex machines or vehicles.

  • Basic understanding of AC/DC electric forklifts or equipment

  • 2-5 years of experience working on mobile equipment, trucks, or automobiles

  • Mechanical and hydraulic skills, coupled with basic engineering knowledge.

  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical/electrical product, and use of test procedures
