We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our advanced manufacturing site based onsite in Port Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis. This position require flexibility to be able to work across day, afternoon and night shift as per business requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC Machines

  • Work to fine tolerances

  • Understanding of cutting tools (Tool life and condition, speeds and feeds)

  • Basic understanding of general dimensions and tolerances

  • Use of measuring instruments – micrometers, verniers and slip gauges

  • Follow written instructions to set up fixtures and associated tooling

  • Use of hand tools for deburring/thickness

  • Perform operator quality verification

  • Basic understanding of continuous improvement and lean principle

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • Minimum 3 years CNC Machining experience on 4 or 5 (High Speed) Axis Machine is essential

  • Australian recognized Trade Qualification as a First-Class Machinist is essential

  • Must be available for shift work as per operational requirements across day, afternoon and night

  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering & Technical Drawings

  • General knowledge of OH&S procedures and exposure to quality systems

  • Proven capability to work to agreed deadlines

  • Good communication skills and work well within a team environment

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defense security requirements

Additional Information:

This is an EBA position and classified as an Aerospace Tradesperson 1. Starting salary from 1 July 2024 will be $92,240 + 11.5% Super. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks and a 3-month probationary period.
