ALD Thermal Treatment Shipping & Receiving Associate in Port Huron Michigan, Michigan
Summary of Position: Shipping & Receiving Associate
This is a Shipping & Receiving position (NOT just Material Handling)
To ensure timely preparation of receipt of goods and shipments for customers.
Primary Duties of Position:
- Working in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and familiarity with ERP systems (INFOR)
- Verify and keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment.
- Examine incoming material and compare with records, such as Bill of Ladings, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bill of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Confer with internal and external customers to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using calculator or price list.
- Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter.
- Sustainment and suggested improvements with the 5S system to ensure a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Flex hours to accommodate various truck schedules including nights and weekends to satisfy business demand.
- Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) experience highly preferred
- Excellent computer skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and familiarity with ERP systems (INFOR)
- Excellent math skills.
- Problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Able to multi-task and handle multiple projects at a time without sacrificing quality of work.
- Ability to effectively interact with all members of the organization and work with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of cycle count and inventory control.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
