Robert Half Commercial Property Accountant in Pompano Beach, Florida

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger & Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries for assigned properties.

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, tenant accounts, and intercompany transactions.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP or other applicable accounting standards.

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Oversee property-related AP/AR processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.

  • Review and process invoices, ensuring proper coding and approval.

  • Monitor delinquent accounts and coordinate collections with property management teams.

  • Lease Administration & CAM Reconciliations:

  • Review lease agreements to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Calculate and record tenant billings for common area maintenance (CAM), property taxes, and insurance.

  • Perform annual CAM reconciliations and ensure compliance with lease terms.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of property operating budgets and financial forecasts.

  • Analyze variances and provide insights to property managers and asset managers.

  • Audit & Compliance:

  • Support external auditors by preparing schedules and documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including property tax filings and sales tax reporting.

    Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in property accounting, preferably in commercial real estate.

  • Software Proficiency: Yardi, MRI, or similar property management/accounting software.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP, lease accounting, and financial reporting.

  • Soft Skills: Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NNN lease accounting and CAM reconciliations.

  • CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.

  • Familiarity with real estate investment structures and intercompany accounting.
