Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for the preparation of general and subsidiary ledger transactions and reconciliation, accounts payable processing, and management reporting. Accountable for ensuring assets and liabilities are reconciled in conjunction with each month end closure. Accomplish monthly bank account reconciliations, assist with yearly budget and audit. Must be able to perform a variety of duties ranging from direct involvement in various analyses to coordinating with various departments and clinics.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares journal entries for general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers by compiling, researching, and analyzing data.
  2. Records and reconciles bank accounts.
  3. Ensure all revenue activities are properly recognized and recorded.
  4. Performs monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  5. Research and resolve discrepancies.
  6. Ensures timely, accurate month-end closing and financial reporting.
  7. Provide support in fixed asset, credit card, and inventory management.
  8. Assists with annual financial audit.
  9. Performs other duties as required to support accounting department.

Qualifications:

  1. An associate degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of two years related experience. Bachelors degree in accounting is preferred.
  2. Two to three years of experience in an accountant role.
  3. Two to three years of experience with proficiency in accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  5. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, providers, and external partners.
  6. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Must exhibit a high degree of confidentiality.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Experience in government agency or other not-for-profit organization is preferred.
  9. Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel. Proficient in Sage Intacct software is preferred.
  10. Must be organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks with precision and thoroughness.
  11. Open to change and willing to learn new skills.
  12. Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet deadlines.
  13. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, work ethic, and dependability.
