Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Senior Accountant to join our clients finance team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong accounting foundation and a background in the government or public sector. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and support for budgeting and audits.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Maintain general ledger and ensure proper classification of transactions

• Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis

• Assist with annual audits and coordinate with external auditors

• Support budget preparation and monitor expenditures against budget

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable government accounting standards

• Lead or assist in the preparation of financial reports for regulatory agencies

• Identify and implement process improvements for financial operations

  Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience

• Experience in a government agency, nonprofit, or public sector environment highly preferred

• Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant compliance a plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software systems

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
