Mechanical Designer

Description:

Our client is seeking an individual with a background in steel detailing and mechanical understanding for drafting, design, and detailing. They primarily work with structural steel and aluminum, utilizing SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel detailing, including connections, columns, beams, and components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create structural steel detail drawings for bleachers and grandstand projects using AutoCAD.

• Develop concept layouts, detail, and design drawings, and collaborate with architects.

• Bid on projects and, if awarded, obtain specifications to design grandstands from scratch to fit within the space.

• Participate in early concept work for new projects, recommending methods of construction, product details, and assembly/fabrication to minimize cost and maximize value.

• Stay updated on changing national and local codes and incorporate these into product designs as directed.

• Work with purchasing personnel to order materials and samples for prototypes.

• Provide input to drafters on work requiring design input.

Business Operations:

• Brand new design work per customers' specifications.

• Standard replacement work, which involves updating drawings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must Haves:

• 3-10 years of experience in mechanical/structural design in a manufacturing environment.

• 2-3 years of experience in SolidWorks.

• 1-2 years of experience in AutoCAD.

• Background in structural steel detailing (connections, procedures, etc.).

• Experience putting together Bill of Materials (BOMs) in Excel.

• 2-3 years of experience designing steel or aluminum.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $30.00/hr.
