The Position

The Business Performance Management Lead will play a pivotal role in defining and standardizing core Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) across the Commercial Strategy &Marketing (CS&M) organization. This role will lead efforts to determine the most relevant metrics to measure business performance, create scorecards, and conduct health checks on brands.

Relationships

This position will report to the Business Excellence Lead. This role will coordinate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, sales, research and development, market access and policy/advocacy (MAPA), finance, operations, etc.) to optimize processes and drive strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing business performance. Collaborates cross-functionally with the global team to ensure alignment on key objectives, performance metrics, and reporting requirements. This role will work in close partnership with Commercial Insight & Analytics (CI&A) to ensure alignment and accuracy of performance metrics and to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability.

Essential Functions

  • Metric Identification: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify the most relevant and actionable metrics to measure business performance. Conduct thorough analysis and assessment to determine key drivers of success and areas for improvement

  • KPI and OKR Standardization: Lead the development and standardization of core KPIs and OKRs across the organization to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and business priorities. Define clear performance metrics and targets to drive accountability and measure success

  • Performance Analysis and Reporting: Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Design and implement scorecards to track performance against established KPIs and OKRs. Develop visual dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time insights into business performance and identify trends and patterns

  • Measurement Facilitation: Organizes & facilitates cadence for weekly, monthly, and quarterly checks of KPIs/OKRs with therapeutic areas (TA) and develops templates, frameworks, and visualizations for socialization of captured metrics

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Communicate insights, recommendations, and progress updates effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership, to drive alignment and support decision-making processes

  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure that performance metrics are aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Work closely with senior leadership to communicate performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

  • Process Optimization and Efficiency: Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize performance management processes and methodologies. Implement best practices and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in measuring and monitoring business performance

    Physical Requirements

    Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.

    Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred

  • 8+ years of experience required, including demonstrated history in business administration, business analysis, performance management, finance, or related roles preferably within the pharmaceutical industry

  • Proven track record of defining and standardizing KPIs and OKRs, conducting metric identification exercises, and developing scorecards and dashboards

  • Strong analytical and performance assessment skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau) and business intelligence platforms

  • Excellent project management and leadership abilities, with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence senior leadership and key stakeholders

  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills with exceptionally high attention to quality of detail and proven track record of results and follow up

  • Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including competitive market dynamics and trends, preferred

  • Strategic mindset with a focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation in performance management processes and methodologies

  • Experience in change management within business performance

  • Experience with local and global operations within life sciences preferred
