The Position

The Portfolio Foresight Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing the portfolio of assets and indications across Novo Nordisk. This role is responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies to optimize the value and sequencing of indications across the asset pipeline, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market dynamics. It will also include commercial ownership of portfolio level device strategy and lifecycle management of devices.

Relationships

Reports to the Strategic Foresight Lead PO. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing, analytics, sales, R&D, Medical, NNI Global, and Market Access (MAPA), to co-create strategies for a cohesive portfolio planning, device strategy and indication management. Facilitate communication and coordination across functional areas and collaboration with pipeline to drive cross-functional collaboration and synergy. Communicates innovative strategies to therapeutic area marketing teams.

Essential Functions

  • Portfolio Overview: Provide a comprehensive overview of the asset portfolio, including current and future indications, development status, key milestones, and commercialization plans. Maintain a thorough understanding of each in-line and pipeline asset's therapeutic profile, mechanism of action, competitive landscape, and market positioning

  • Indication Sequencing: Develop and implement strategies for sequencing indications across the asset pipeline to maximize the overall portfolio value and commercial potential of each asset. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize indications based on market opportunity, patient need, and strategic fit within the overall portfolio

  • Asset Prioritization and Resourcing: Lead the prioritization process for allocating resources and investments across the asset portfolio. Evaluate the potential value, risk, and strategic importance of each indication to inform resource allocation decisions and optimize portfolio performance

  • Device Portfolio Management: Provide portfolio level strategic guidance of the device portfolio, including medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health solutions. Develop strategies to enhance the value proposition of device-based products and optimize their integration into the overall portfolio strategy across the therapy areas

  • Maximizing Portfolio Value: Develop and execute strategies to maximize the value of the portfolio by identifying opportunities for portfolio optimization, indication expansion, label extensions, and lifecycle management initiatives. Leverage market insights, competitive intelligence, and scientific expertise to drive value creation across the portfolio

  • Market Insights: Gather insights to inform portfolio management decisions, including market trends, competitive dynamics, patient needs, and regulatory requirements. Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and evolving market trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks within the portfolio

    Physical Requirements

    Hybrid Policy: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

    Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.

    Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred

  • 8+ years of experience, including demonstrated history in portfolio management, indication sequencing, or business operations or related roles

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical product development processes, including clinical development, regulatory pathways, and commercialization strategies, especially within diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases preferred

  • Experience with local and global operations within life sciences preferred

  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex portfolios of assets and indications, with demonstrated ability to drive strategic decision-making and value creation

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information, assess market dynamics, and develop data-driven insights to support portfolio management decisions

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership

  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to think critically, anticipate future trends, and develop innovative solutions to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities in a dynamic market environment

  • Embodies leadership behaviors, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, and driving focus and simplicity

  • People management experience required, with a proven track record of development and coaching
