Pressley Ridge Special Education Substitute Teacher (Day to Day) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Special Education Substitute Teacher (SET) is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring effective individualized academic programs for each assigned student.  The Floating Teacher/SET also assists the mental health specialist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the individualized positive behavior support plan for each assigned student.  The Floating Teacher/SET is a member of a classroom team.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. To assure effective academic programming for each student which results in high rates of academic progress and successful program completion.
  2. To assure effective mental health programming to increase each student's adaptive social skills and appropriate school decorum.: 
  3. To assure comprehensive documentation of all academic and behavioral progress. 
  4. To assure the continuous safety of all students. 
  5. To assure the continuing development of professional skills.

Qualifications

  • Clearances. State Police; FBI clearance; child abuse clearance; CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training; any additional background checks/clearances required by state governing bodies.
  • Valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf - Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required. Applicants not meeting the minimum ASL proficiency are required to complete coursework and meet the minimum proficiency after hire.
