WESCO Senior Manager - Accounting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will work with minimal oversight reporting to a multi-regional leader, oversee a team responsible for managing various accounting functions typically across multiple countries and legal entities, including ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue and asset accounting, as well as associated analysis and reporting. You will be involved in the development and implementation of new systems and implementing best practices across the organization. While leading and directing accounting professionals and serving as a transformational leader ensuring that the organization is following best in class digital solutions. You will be responsible for creating a successful team and departmental strategy including guiding talent identification and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct schedules, and review accounting data provided, for annual audit as well as other monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, statements, and filings for a variety of key company stakeholders.

  • Review and direct account analysis and control, and recommend and implement corrective action to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

  • Control of costs within annual budget process.

  • Oversee effective controls of balance sheet and income statement accounts.

  • Develop strategic and operational plans to achieve results and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate with, and support, the functional Director in fulfilling key or high value deliverables.

  • Select, manage, evaluate, and develop professional and supervisory accounting staff.

  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through setting goals for the function, cascading these to all employees, managing execution, and measuring results.

  • Identify and lead the decision-making process to resolve complex and sensitive challenges to the function, through innovation, with careful consideration of company culture and the wider impact of any change.

  • Take lead in project finance, control, and operation matters.

  • Serve as a leader of global implementation of new systems and processes including systems readiness testing, risk identification and mitigation. Also support multi-year accounting systems transformation initiatives by participating in global process design sessions and systems implementation.

  • Partner with Solution Management and other functional groups to lead workshops, gather requirements across multiple global regions, and collaborate for shared goals.

  • Drive continuous process improvements which includes standardizing, automating, enhancing processes, and ensuring key business owners are provided quality information efficiently.

  • Manage accounting functions for Rahi’s US and Canada entities including leading the month-end close process and ensuring timely and accurate reporting

  • Lead continued expansion of SOX control environment for Rahi organization and systems ensuring internal controls are in alignment with Wesco policies and controls and appropriately address risks.

  • Manage local tax filings and coordination with the tax firms on corporate income tax filing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting or related area; CIMA/ACA/ACCA/ICAEW/CPA qualified

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience required

  • 4 years required/6 years preferred of management of non-exempt and exempt employees

  • 5+ years of in-depth experience using one or more large, integrated financial management/accounting systems, such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent is preferred preferred

  • 2 years of experience designing and implementing a financial system In depth knowledge of financial systems required preferred

  • Knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls and SOX requirements

  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel

  • Ability to work under tight time schedules and to handle multiple tasks

  • Able to adapt to new responsibilities with an agile mindset

  • Strong general business and project management skills

  • Ability to build and lead strong business relationships with other functional areas to best support mutual objectives

  • Ability to analyze complex strategic issues and provide recommendations

  • Ability to apply professional principles and business judgement to solve problems

  • Ability to influence outcomes and broad processes beyond individual function

  • Ability to spot key risks upfront and mitigate

  • Ability to bring quick focus to key issues and priorities

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting processes and techniques

  • Ability to travel 0-25%
