This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences.

LRDC is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Post-Doctoral Associate, for an exciting project to support the development of a joint research initiative with colleagues at UC Irvine. The goal of this initiative is to pilot I4L (Ingredients 4 Learning), a family program that promotes preschoolers' science and literacy skills through family food routines. The family program will take place in Santa Ana (CA) and will be part of the services provided by a community organization. The postdoc will contribute to the design, data collection and analysis, and write-up under the mentorship of Dr. Diana Leyva and Kevin Crowley at the University of Pittsburgh and Dr. Andres Bustamante at UC Irvine. We are looking for an energetic scientist who has worked in the areas of co-design, qualitative methods, community-research partnerships, and culturally sustaining pedagogy/design to understand how to better support Latine parents in promoting science and literacy learning at home in culturally appropriate ways. The postdoc will work alongside our team to lead the co-design of the program, data collection, supervision of students, data analyses, and dissemination of results. The post-doc is expected to interact fluently and culturally appropriately with the Spanish-speaking, Latine families from low-income households that will participate in this research. This position offers an opportunity to conduct community-based research that can translate into social impact. As the project manager, the Post-Doctoral Associate will be expected to participate at all levels of the project. The responsibilities include: ? Data collection in the field ? Training and supervision of undergraduate and graduate RAs and other project staff ? Running focus groups ? Developing program modules ? Data coding and analysis ? Writing of the report and dissemination of results via peer-reviewed publications ? Presentation of findings at national conferences ? Developing and sustaining relationships with community groups

Required qualifications: ? Ph.D. in Informatics, Psychology, Education, Human Development, or a related field ? Proficient in Spanish and English ? Currently residing in Irvine, California, or near this area ? Experience working with children/families in research settings ? Ability to travel to the community organization located in Santa Ana ? Training in one or more of the following areas including community-based research, community partnerships with Latine communities, STEM education and literacy, planning and executing participatory design research projects, making prototypes, and conducting user and usability testing with codesign participants. ? Excellent interpersonal, leadership, writing, and organizational skills ? Ability to interact in a culturally responsive manner with Spanish-speaking, Latine participants from low-income households ? Proficiency with LateX and analysis software such as Dedoose.

? Degree- Major/Field/Concentration: Ph.D. in Informatics, Psychology, Education, Human Development, or a related field

Appointment is for a 12-month period. The anticipated start is September 2024.
