Job Description

The International Merchandising Manager is responsible for the ownership of a customer-focused assortment and has accountability for facilitating budgeted sales and building market share within a group of select international markets through various franchise wholesale channels. This position is responsible for executing on a wide array of opportunities by partnering with GNC international franchise partners and several cross-functional parties to drive the business, ensuring a global industry leading position for GNC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads necessary assortment growth plans and new opportunities for selected products, categories, and regions to achieve or exceed sales and margin goals for international channel(s)

  • Collaborates with key cross-functional areas to ensure support of product assortment is maximized with proper communication, promotion, marketing needs, creative merchandising and adequate inventory, while monitoring product lifecycle

  • Be customer-obsessed, maintaining constant expertise on product innovation, current market trend research, and competitive data to support successful launch of new products and brands worldwide

  • Assists in the development of a consumer-focused product strategy that is commercially viable and delivers a consistent worldwide look and feel

  • Act as a GNC assortment and merchandising expert and liaise between international business partners and other external/internal functions to support the in-market needs of each country and channel within

  • Consolidates the product needs from regions/channels to develop product(s) that meet business goals

  • Find commonality in consumer, customer, and market trends to minimize duplication and cannibalization; identify areas to reduce complexity and increase productivity globally

  • Understand and support the worldwide segmentation at right price vs. value, e.g., 'good, better, best' strategy

  • International business unit ambassador to cross-functional teams showing up as compelling, dynamic, and knowledgeable in all stages of go-to-market process and partner interactions where product is discussed

  • Assist in building compelling stories to sell in and create solutions to drive brand vision and grow sales

  • Manage 3rd party vendor relationships, contract negotiations, assortment strategy, and ongoing promotional and marketing support

  • Lead international 3rd party assortment approval process for select categories

  • Lead new product development submission process and business case approval for select categories and markets

  • Provide visual merchandising guidance for international-specific planograms and best-practice materials

  • Develop and update resources to support training and communication of key product information

  • Execute new product launches, and supporting marketing and promotional activities for assigned categories

  • Maintain knowledge on the latest visual merchandising strategies by sales channel

  • Manages direct report(s) with immediate feedback on performance and regular touch bases to review deliverables, regular development, and coaching

  • Additional duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervising multiple projects.

  • Responsible for supervising a team of employees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Merchandising or related field

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) preferred

  • 8+ years progressive experience in a merchandising, buying, or go-to-market capacity, ideally in a related industry

  • 4+ years prior managerial/supervisory experience

  • International experience and ability to speak multiple languages a plus

  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills

  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to adapt quickly to trends in the marketplace and ever-changing business needs

  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external partners worldwide

  • Self-confidence to work with, influence, and present to peers, senior management, and external stakeholders

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

  • Strong ability to actively listen and critically think through process and agile solutions to adapt to unique partners

  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts, specifically retail math

  • Ability to work well both autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment

  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications

  • Ability to attend and lead meetings at various times of the day due to international time zones (ex. calls prior to 8am and calls after 5pm)
