Finance and Personnel Administrator

 

The Hillman Cancer Center (HCC) provides exceptional patient care as a world leader in understanding, preventing, and treating cancer through the integration of scientific discovery, clinical excellence, and community partnerships, while training the next generation of cancer experts. This position is a University of Pittsburgh role within the Personnel Team in the Fiscal Department of HCC. The Personnel Team handles all HR related transactions for University staff, students, temps and academics. This position requires someone with excellent attention to detail and customer service, and the ability to multitask. This is a hybrid position, working 2 days in the office a week, and as needed for meetings.

Job Summary

 

 

Performs routine and moderately complex human resource operations involving the recruitment, hiring, and retention as well as the preparation of journal entries, reports, and budget analyses. Assists in budgetary development functions. Serves as a primary contact for a variety of matters and intermediate-level issues regarding human resources and finance matters.

 

Essential Functions

    • Process effort updates for all UPMC Hillman Cancer Center supported employees within oracle-based systems (PRISM & PittWorx). Answer questions regarding personnel effort and investigate and solve effort related.
    • Serve as a coordinator of the University's Effort Certification process which includes monitoring all UPMC Hillman Cancer Center based uncertified effort and follow up with Principal Investigators (PIs) as necessary to resolve issues so that all effort may be certified in a timely manner.
    • Update excel based trackers documenting personnel related information including position and salary details, effort support, and payroll details for all UPMC Hillman Cancer center supported employees to serve as an accurate reference for the entire UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Fiscal Team.
    • Coordinate the financial approval of all UPMC Hillman Cancer Center supported Postdocs, Graduate Student Researchers, & Scholars and track and maintain documentation of all UPMC Hillman Cancer Center supported Postdoc, GSR, & Scholar appointments.
    • Assist in the annual Research Incentive calculation process which includes analyzing all UPMC Hillman Cancer Center supported faculty's fiscal year effort to determine research incentive eligibility and the calculation of the research incentives according to School of Medicine policy.
    • Process all Radiation Oncology based faculty new hires, reappointments, and promotions which requires the following of a variety of different administrative processes established by the School of Medicine.
    • Assist in HR transactions including hiring, payroll, terminations, and system updates as needed for staff, students and temps.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
