Carnegie Mellon University Director of Facilities for Dining Services - Division of Student Affairs in PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 2021681 Carnegie Mellon University's Division of Student Affairs searching for a Director of Facilities for Dining Services to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by having direct oversight of all daily service work orders and small facilities projects within Dining Services with the goal of providing best-in-class facilities and equipment to support the Dining Program. This position will plan and implement replacement projects along with preventative maintenance initiatives for the facilities and equipment. Core responsibilities include:

Manages and coordinates the workflow of dining daily services requests for facilities / equipment maintenance and repair, asset inventory, and development of preventative and replacement programs through Maximo or other processes.

Develops and maintains preventative maintenance program for dining equipment and assets. The position manages about 75 thousand square feet of space, with oversight responsibility for an annual budget of approximately $1.5M.

Works with vendors and CMU dining team to ensure all facilities meet ACHD standards at all times.

Communicates with contracted equipment repair companies to review progress and confirms campus work order priorities.

Meets weekly with custodial leadership to assess progress to assure dining spaces are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.

Conducts regular meetings with dining vendors: weekly onsite meetings with primary vendor and monthly onsite meetings with independent vendors to review facility and equipment needs.

Provides repair and replacement recommendations on equipment based on past maintenance and / or future expected useful life. Participates in monthly budget review meetings of Dining Services discussing purchases and past charges.

Develops scopes, solicits bids, and makes recommendations for purchases of equipment that needs to be ordered for Dining Services. Confirms utility availability or makes necessary modifications to accommodate new equipment. Coordinates deliveries and installation of new equipment, as well as disposal process of equipment to be removed.

Works with the Associate Director of Dining Services in a collaborative manner so as to support the Dining Services program and the Dining vendors on day-to-day activities or on new initiatives within their facilities or equipment.

Receives and coordinates after-hours service response requests. (this position is on-call).

Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:

Project planning, scheduling, and budget management throughout the project cycle are essential skills.

Proven project management skills and knowledge related to facilities and custodial operations; experience managing facilities budgets with tracking and forecasting expenditures and maintaining adequate controls; exceptional collaboration, consultation and negotiation skills; demonstrated administrative experience with ability to work well as a management team and provide leadership to staff to meet department/division/institutional goals and objectives; effective communicator working with various partners from a diverse set of backgrounds; and strong customer service and problem-solving skills. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, facilities management or a related field required

8 yea s of progressively responsible experience in project management or facilities management. Expertise with contracts and budgets, maintenance, project management, inventory control, and customer service is required. Higher education experience preferred

A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered. Requirements:

Work Posture: This position is eligible to be considered for some remote work flexibility.

Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:30-5:00pm. An alternate work schedule allowing for evening and weekend hours will be required on occasion.
