Role Summary

Purpose and Responsibility of the Position:

Supervises functions related to support of Logistics in the facility, including shipping, receiving, and material control. It is the responsibility of every supervisor to ensure that safe and healthy work conditions are maintained. It is the responsibility of every supervisor to attend the monthly safety training and train all their associates each month on the related topic. Supervisors must perform safety inspections, safety talks and be involved in accident investigations. They must correct unsafe acts or conditions, correct or comment on health and safety performance, and conduct performance appraisals ensuring worker’s safety performance.

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Maintain documentation, collect/verify information, and perform audits which pertain directly to the operations/activities of shipping/receiving and reports to appropriate personnel as required.

  • Coordinate activities relating to the supply or condition of containers, trucks, trailers, parts, dunnage, etc. ensuring shortages/overstock situation are remedied and any damage is reported.

  • Interpretation of shipping schedules and requirements.

  • Ensure that Logistics Associates enter correct inventory transactions into the Inventory Management database to maintain good inventory accuracy and ensuring that cycle counts are performed accurately.

  • Assist and support the department manager in all day-to-day activities in Logistics Department: equipment maintenance scheduling, housekeeping, safety programs, training courses, meetings.

  • Perform additional work based on manager’s assignment (special assignments, handling of returnable packaging, repackaging, etc.)

  • Perform other duties as required.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Four to five years of supervisory experience and/or training.

  • Fork Lift License

  • Valid driver’s license

Communication Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Office environment:

  • 70% Standing and walking

  • 10% Sitting at desk

  • 20% Driving fork lift

  • Some heavy lifting involved
