Responsibilities

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is a non-conventional non-profit program offering state-of-the-art clinical trials for patients with the most aggressive form of brain cancer. It is home to the largest collection of Phase 0 trials for brain tumors in the world. Our multidisciplinary team of brain tumor specialists and scientists are accelerating drug discovery and precision medicine in neuro-oncology to identify the most promising first-in-class therapies for brain tumor patients. Job Description: The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow preferably a recent graduate (Ph.D. M.D. DVM) who to join our liquid biopsy team focusing on tracking tumor evolution during cutting-edge Phase 0/II clinical trials for glioblastoma at the Barrow Neurological Institute. Prior experience in genomics oncology drug treatment studies and knowledge of signal transduction pathways is preferred. We are seeking a driven individual who is interested in developing and implementing innovative computational and wet lab approaches to study the genetics and epigenetics of cancer using solid tumor and liquid biopsies. Candidates who are excited about liquid biopsy research complex multi-omic data analyses of cancer genomes and development of computational methods are encouraged to apply.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop new computational methodologies for exploiting liquid biopsies to study glioblastoma and advance precision oncology

• Conduct and analyze multi-omic data sets from early phase clinical trial tissue

• Construct and optimize of next-generation sequencing libraries from tumor and liquid biopsy samples

• Supervise and train laboratory supporting research staff

• Reviews literature and keeps themselves up to date with the progress in the field

• Coordinates with other Ivy Center teams for preclinical projects

• Abstract and manuscript preparation and publishing

• Assists in preparation of grant proposals and applications

• Preparation and delivery of research presentations at internal and local meetings national and international conferences

Required Qualifications:

• We have a strong preference for expertise in genomics/bioinformatics/computational biology with deep appreciation for signal transduction pathways cancer biology and neurobiology.

• Candidates with background in Cell/Molecular/Neurobiology or other biomedical sciences are encouraged to apply.

• PhD in Genomics/Oncology/Data sciences/Neurosciences field is preferred.

• Hands-on and documented experience in analyzing RNA-seq ChIP-seq WES WGS and methylation data

• Must have the ability to think critically conduct independent research studies analyze and interpret data

• Ability to do multi-omic analysis using a combination of datasets

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills

• Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a team

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Beyond minimum required, experience writing research reports concerning own work and familiarity with a biomedical discipline preferred. Ph.D., post-baccalaureate M.D. or D.Sc. degree or equivalent in a relevant field of endeavor required. Doctoral degree in a relevant field of endeavor preferred. Laboratory or clinical technical and/or interpersonal skills as appropriate required. Familiar with basic computer, mathematical, scientific, reasoning, and oral and written communication skills as appropriate required.

Pay Range

$22.95 - $33.28 /hour
