Trinity Health Surgical Tech - Pool Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Description:

Functions primarily as a member of the surgical team, and performs specific duties in an operating room or other areas of asepsis under the direction and continuous supervision of qualified professional nurses and surgeons. The responsibilities include skillful performance of selected duties before, during and after an operation as a scrub or circulating assistant, in conformance with institutional Mission and Philosophy and AORN Standards.

DAY SHIFT WITH ROTATION AND ON-CALL REQUIREMENT.

Education and Training

High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of a surgical technical program and Surgical Technician certification required.

Certification and Licensure

Completion of a Certified Surgical Tech program approved by the National Board of Surgical Technical and Surgical Assisting. Certified Surgical Tech certification required.

BCLS required.

On call required

Skills

• Indicates a willingness to learn the philosophies, objectives, policies, procedures, and responsibilities of nursing care of the Medical Center in order to care for patients accordingly.

• Verbal ability is required to communicate with the patients and to understand instructions received form physicians and members of the nursing staff.

• Manual dexterity is required to move and use hands easily and skillfully while assisting patients and in the practice of operating room skills.

• A faculty for relating to people and interest in their welfare in normal as well as stressful situations.

• Ability to deal with operative procedures and crisis situations.

Experience

One (1) year as a Surgical Tech preferred.
