A Brief Overview A research lab manager is needed to join a strong team that specializes in both dry and wet lab approaches in order to elucidate the genetic basis of complex traits, principally in pediatrics. These studies will build on the already seminal work that has emerged from genome wide studies conducted at CHOP and at other peer institutions. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, including detailed recordkeeping, computer literacy, scientific writing and the ability to contribute to method development and validation. After initial training, this individual is to perform independently with minimal guidance, and will work with the Principal Investigator, Prof. Struan Grant, in facilitating the daily running of the operation.

The Research Lab Manager will undertake coordination of various lab personnel, liaise with external collaborators and facilitate fund raising. We are looking for a candidate with experience in various molecular biology techniques, utilization of bioinformatics tools, application of statistical methods and supervision of research scientists.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To manage the day-to-day operation of the Struan Grant laboratory 2. Ensure the team conducts projects in a timely and efficient manner 3. Liaise with external collaborators 4. Coordinate fundraising efforts, including assisting in the raising of NIH funds

Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Required

A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM with a major in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related field preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. Specific research experience should include various molecular biology techniques, utilization of bioinformatics tools, application of statistical methods and supervision of research scientists.
