Description

To provide psychiatric services to individuals served by District 19 CSB. This position will be exposed to a broad range of psychiatric pathology with a varied mix of acuity and complexity.

Primary job task will be to serve as the psychiatric provider for the ACT Team, conducting assessments/evaluations of psychiatric illnesses; psychiatric medication evaluation and management in accordance with rational psycho-pharmacological practices and documenting response to treatment; enter orders for diagnostic tests, medications, and other therapies and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team; timely completion of medical record documentation in accordance with the state ACT Model, DMAS, and CSB policies, procedures, regulatory standards and guidelines; coordination and continuation of the care for patients in adherence to state and federal guidelines and discharge planning.

ACT is a highly coordinated set of services offered by a group of medical, behavioral health, peer recovery support providers and rehabilitation professionals in the community who work together as a team to meet the complex needs of individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness.

This position will work Monday-Friday 7-hour days: The provider shall provide psychiatric services to the ACT team thirty-five (28) hours a week divided over a four (4) consecutive day work week, with no less 75% of consumer contact hours provided in the community and one day (7 hours) providing direct psychiatric services to adults in the Medical Services Program.

Special licenses, registration or certification:

-Must be a Virginia Board certified MD, DO, or PMHNP with an autonomous practice designation.

-Must have a MD degree or an equivalent.

-Must be a graduate of an approved psychiatry residency program.

-Must possess a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

-Must possess and maintain prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia and active DEA registration

-Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Or

-Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice in Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner with a specializationin Psychiatric/Mental Health with an Autonomous Practice designation issued by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.

-Must possess and maintain prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia and active DEA registration.

-Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

-Valid VA Driver's License with acceptable motor vehicle record.

Education or Training – occupational qualifications or requirements:

Completion of experience requirements to obtain an autonomous practice designation in the area of psychiatric/mental health. Demonstrated experience in community mental health with persons with serious and persistent mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use and co-occurring disorders preferred.
