Job Title: Market Research and Data Science Consultant

Salary: £52,380 + Dependent upon experience

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Market Research Consultant and Data Scientist to join our Sales, Marketing, Servicing & Parts (SMSP) Market Insight team in Peterborough.

The team is responsible for enabling the business to make informed commercial decisions by using research and data analytics to identify and communicate industry trends with an emphasis on industry, customer and competitor insights.

In this role you will be an off-highway industry data expert, understanding market insight, competitor activity, identifying and communicating trends whilst identifying future power systems direction.

  • Hybrid Working on site in Peterborough, 3 days per week

What You Will Do

  • Gather, analyse, and interpret data to identify market trends and insights and present insights to business partners regarding implications on product, service or customer experience development.

  • Analyse and interpreting data, providing detailed observations and insights.

  • Recommend actions to take based on insights and provide strategic conclusions / recommendations.

  • Understand business needs and design appropriate quantitative / qualitative research plan to generate focused insights for highly complex or highly strategic initiatives.

  • Help the business make informed commercial decisions by using data analytics to identify and communicate trends.

  • Manage more complex market research processes, including agency management, and collaborating with cross-functional counterparts to influence key strategies and execution decisions.

  • Use industry standard statistics and data visualisation packages. Alteryx, Tableau, Power Bi and Salesforce.

  • Determine, implement, and monitor market research strategies, process, tools and techniques.

  • Manage external data providers to ensure quality of data research and compliance.

  • Work with the global sales team, distributors, and dealers to find innovative ways to collect market information whilst ensuring we adhere to our compliance framework.

  • Work with Commercial, Marketing, New Product Introduction (NPI) and Programme teams to ensure that competitive and industry intelligence is fully utilized.

  • Ensure processes are in place to share data and validate the quality of data sets.

  • Develop and conduct market intelligence training with teams across the globe.
