The Opportunity

The Corporate Treasury team is looking for a talented and motivated Senior Manager to lead Caterpillar’s Treasury Technology team. This role provides counsel to treasury / finance management, leads Treasury's technology and analytics initiatives, and ensures process discipline and controls. The Senior Manager of Treasury Technology is a unique opportunity to be an integral member of a global finance organization and a leader in treasury technology to power strategic advantage and have a major impact on the Enterprise.

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and vision to diverse and high performing treasury technology team.

  • Determine how new technology, systems, or processes can be applied to Caterpillar's global operations to achieve efficiency and better cash utilization.

  • Develop and deploy technology and analytics strategy across Treasury / Finance

  • Manage a portfolio of strategic projects

  • Actively research and evaluate technology trends

  • Manage internal and external technology provider relationships

  • Serve as the interface between treasury process owners and the IT organization

  • Deliver high quality user training and business process support

  • Experiment with and implement innovative technology solutions

  • Execute a high-quality IT controls program and support process owners in business control compliance

  • Typical internal customers include the Vice President & Corporate Treasurer, Assistant Treasurers, Regional Treasurers, and global business unit leaders.

  • External contacts may include various suppliers, service providers, and software vendors

The skills required for this role are:

Planning, Tactical and Strategic (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail (Expert Level): Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision

Communicating Complex Concepts (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking (Expert Level): Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Relationship Management (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Customer Services Management (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of customer service priorities and ability to utilize tools and techniques for maintaining an environment where all understand and are committed to providing excellent service to internal and external customers.

Team Management (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

Treasury Management (Working Knowledge): Knowledge of the principles and methods of managing treasury; ability to use tools, techniques, and processes to maximize the value of an organization's financial assets and revenue while minimizing risk.

Influencing (Extensive Experience): Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Information Technology related field. Non-Finance or Information Technology bachelor’s degree may be considered with equivalent experience.

  • 7 or more years of progressively responsible job-related experience

  • Leadership experience

  • Strong background in information technology, system support, and / or treasury processes

  • Incumbents have had some experience in providing direction for future Treasury/Finance product and service needs

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to ensure a strong compliance culture (organization, policies and procedures)

  • Experience with FIS products: Quantum, Trax Payment Hub, eBAM

  • Working knowledge of industry Finance/Treasury systems and processes

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Must be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and develop others

  • The ability to prioritize workflow and accomplish tasks across the organization through collaboration and delegation

  • Experience advising high level leadership within an enterprise and working among industry peers

  • High level of responsibility, initiative, values, and stress tolerance

Additional Details:

  • Location: Peoria, IL; Nashville, TN; Irving, TX

  • Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify

  • Up to 25% travel is expected

  • There is an in office requirement of 3 days per week
