Job Summary:

Supports the execution of designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring procurement capabilities to provide business solutions that are globally effective connecting the physical and digital world’s of Caterpillar’s supply ecosystem.

What You Will Do:

• Leads sustainable process improvement by diagnosing and addressing root cause issues within complex business processes using Lean, 6 Sigma and project management methodologies and tools, such as transactional value stream maps and root cause analysis.

• Designs and develops innovative solutions and automation capability by collaborating with senior stakeholders, business partners, domain knowledge SME's and digital resources. Prepares and drives implementation plans for successful deployment.

• Contributes to strategic initiatives such as the development of standardized best practices, offerings, services, and development of associated tools and training.

• Serves as the lead technical representative for a respective discipline and will work directly with a wide range of global procurement and enterprise representatives, including presenting recommendations to senior leaders.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, procurement, manufacturing engineering, or operations

Business Process Improvement:

• Demonstrates a high degree of technical knowledge and intellectual curiosity.

• Gathers data for use in the analysis of business processes related to procurement systems, procedures and policies.

• Illustrates gaps, define problems with magnitude and amplitude, opportunities and methods for improving existing business processes.

• Suggests ways to reduce variation and/or waste in processes.

• Helps evaluate what factors & system controls should be addressed in the recommended changes.

• Facilitates the requirements analysis for process changes and work with key process partners for their engagement and ideas with implementation plan.

Data Analytics:

• Collects required data through various data sources and documents them for evaluating trends and activities using power queries or SQL / Python codes.

• Assists in preparing charts, graphs, tables, and other tools to represent the results obtained from data analysis.

• Researches business-related data, analyzes, interprets, and presents findings to management for executive summary.

• Recognizes and assesses problems, opportunities, and methods for improving existing business performance based on the product / process value stream key success performance metrics.

• Utilizes designated data analysis software like PowerBI to analyze the data, Microsoft forms for gathering survey, Microsoft power automate and flow to trigger notifications or alerts.

Effective Communications:

• Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.

• Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.

• Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.

• Avoids technical jargon when inappropriate to maintain engagement across business process partners.

• Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups and tailor the right message for the audience.

Negotiating:

• Describes qualities of effective and ineffective negotiations.

• Explains the basic concepts of negotiating.

• Accesses organizational policies and practices for negotiating.

• Utilizes techniques for establishing rapport and building trust.

Matrix Management:

• Names key players and decision makers relative to own function.

• Identifies straight and dotted line relationships for self.

• Provides reasons for multiple reporting relationships; strong relationship management

• Explains the concept of a functional boundary.

Cost-Benefit Analysis:

• Describes common factors examples like variation, repetition, defect used in determining break even for business process automation.

• Identifies key components manual labor hours in transactional processes and contents that can be automated.

• Explains basic concepts of prioritization of projects based on returns on investments.

• Compiles a list of factors to consider in determining the benefits of a request.

Order to deliver Function:

• Identifies major tasks and responsibilities of a procurement, supply chain, logistic, manufacturing and operations function or unit.

• Explains the basic role and contributions of the procurement or purchasing function.

• Explains the procedures and policies in the procurement process and audit capabilities.

• Locates the basic tools and technologies used by procurement professionals.

Additional Information

The locations for this position are Peoria, IL and Mossville, IL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position may require up to 25% travel.
