Joint Activities Program Analyst (Strategic Engagement & Research) in Pentagon, Virginia

Summary About the Position: Serve as a Strategic Engagement and Research Officer for the US European Command (EUCOM), Russia Strategic Initiative (RSI), with duty in Washington, DC. Facilitate actions between the RSI and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff, combatant commands, interagency partners, academia, and think-tanks in the DC area. Responsibilities Engage with OSD, Joint Staff, services, combatant commands, the US intelligence community, and other organizations to inform RSI collective understanding and Dept. of Defense (DoD) support to a whole-of-government approach. Support RSI representation and participation in DoD war-games, exercises, table-tops, strategic roundtables, and other planning and strategy events and processes. Coordinate and advance the RSI research relationships with FFRDCs, UARCs, and PME programs. Develop, plan, and execute RSI research funding of these programs in close coordination with the Research Division. Collect information and report on activities that impact on RSI issues to RSI and DoD leadership across a broad spectrum of functional areas, with an emphasis on DoD, academic, and think-tank entities. Administer and monitor the implementation of RSI initiatives across the DoD, including combatant commands, defense agencies, the US intelligence community, and the NCR. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Analyze U.S. and international policy to recommend changes to Defense senior leaders, such as general officer and/or senior civilian executives; AND (2) Preparing senior level Defense leaders for meetings with higher command officials, such as Joint Staff and Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) on matters relevant to U.S. foreign policy and strategy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Interpersonal Skills Problem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
