THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, you will be tasked with overseeing, directing, and organizing the bridge inspection operations within the district to guarantee full compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies. Moreover, you will be responsible for strategizing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the tasks carried out by both internal and external staff members. Your duties will also involve verifying that all bridges under your jurisdiction possess an accurate load rating that adheres to the guidelines and mandates set forth by state and federal authorities.

Furthermore, you will have the additional responsibility of supervising and monitoring the bridge inspection schedule of the unit to prevent any interruptions in the cycle, aligning with the district's strict zero-tolerance stance on inspections. This comprehensive approach to managing the district's bridge inspection activities ensures that safety standards are upheld, and infrastructure integrity is maintained at all times.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana.

  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate speciality and one year of experience in directing the work of civil engineers.

    Special Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

    Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license not under suspension.

    Post Employment Requirement:

  • For the Bridges and Transportation parentheticals, successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer License issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period

    Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaived for this title.
