We are seeking an energetic, skilled​Senior Quality Assurance Managerfor an opening in our facility inPenn Yan, New York.

Overview:

Coordinates plant regulatory, food safety and quality compliance activities related to aseptic production. Directs and develops quality team responsible for monitoring and controlling food safety and quality plans. The Senior Quality Manager will handle customer complaints, develop global QA initiative, manage program and procedure development, and audit suppliers.

Responsibilities

Primary Objectives:

  • Coordinate GSF Quality activities and operations to meet objective for quality, food safety, integrity, regulatory compliances, cost, safety and customer satisfaction at KanPak

  • Participate in formulating and administering division’s short- and long-range goals and objectives for business growth

  • Directly supervise and develop Quality Compliance Supervisor and Quality Lab Supervisor

  • Indirectly supervise and develop quality control technicians

  • Responsible for and authority for all aspects of quality and food safety at facility including the following: decisions on corrective actions, non-conforming products, process deviations, finished product release, and customer complaints

  • Key contact for customers quality department, regulatory, and 3rd party audits

  • Key contact for Process Authority

  • Provides support for all departments in plant GMP’s, policies, and procedures

  • Develop and implement quality procedures for new lines and new products

  • Provides leadership of the plant corrective and preventative action (CAPA) team.

  • Preforms other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, microbiology, biology or closely related field and a minimum 8 years of relevant food safety program management experience in an FDA or USDA regulated environment.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have working knowledge of FDA, local state agriculture and PMO regulations, and have experience with advanced analytical, chemical, and microbiological instrumentation.

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of regulatory (FDA) requirements, such as good manufacturing practices, good laboratory practices, sanitation practices, sanitary design, food defense.

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of administration of a risk-based food safety system utilizing risk analysis to determine appropriate prerequisite programs and mitigating preventative controls.

  • Must successfully complete training (under a standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the FDA) to become a Preventative Control Qualified Individual (PCQI).

  • Must successfully compete Better Processing Control School to become certified in thermal processing systems, acidification, and container closure evaluation programs for low-acid and acidified canned foods.

  • Must also possess a thorough understanding of aseptic food processing and UHT/AP operations.

  • Required skills include motivating and managing personnel, ability to troubleshoot problems, decision making in difficult situations, coordinating efforts among plant departments, and proactively working with customers and suppliers.

  • Must have ability to investigate issues using reasoning, analytical and creative skills in order to implement appropriate corrective action(s).

    Skill and ability to:

  • The position of Quality Systems Manager requires an individual with extensive knowledge in dairy, UHT/AP food processing, quality assurance principals, and federal food regulations.

  • Work well in a cross functional team-based environment

  • Analyze and resolve complex problems

  • Identify accounting problems or anomalies and identify appropriate solutions

  • Prepare a variety of comprehensive administrative and technical documents

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to management

  • Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service

  • Travel via airplane and drive an automobile

  • Act in accordance with GSF’s Values and Creed

    Member of plant leadership team, leads project teams, directs others, including direct reports as needed.

    The anticipated compensation range is $90,000 - $120,000.
