Panasonic North America Global Logistics Manager in Peachtree City, Georgia

Overview

Oversee global freight and logistics operations, contracting and carrier management to ensure the efficient importation of high-volume automotive components and products from Asia and other global ship points to North America. This role focuses on optimizing supply chain performance, managing carrier relationships, and aligning logistics strategies with business objectives. The ideal candidate has a deep expertise in international freight operations, contract negotiations and regulatory compliance, particularly in the Asia-to-North America trade lane. Will manage logistics personnel as assigned.

Responsibilities

YOUR MISSION:

Oversee global freight and logistics operations, contracting and carrier management to ensure the efficient importation of high-volume automotive components and products from Asia and other global ship points to North America. This role focuses on optimizing supply chain performance, managing carrier relationships, and aligning logistics strategies with business objectives. The ideal candidate has a deep expertise in international freight operations, contract negotiations and regulatory compliance, particularly in the Asia-to-North America trade lane. Will manage logistics personnel as assigned.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Freight and Logistics Contracting

  • Develop and negotiate freight contracts with shipping lines, air freight carriers, NVOCC’s, 3PLs, brokers and other logistic service providers to ensure competitive rates and service levels.

  • Conduct regular RFP’s and RFQ’s to identify cost-effective and reliable logistics partners.

  • Establish and manage long-term contracts while ensuring flexibility for volume fluctuations and market changes.

  • Monitor and enforce contract compliance, addressing any performance or service issues proactively.

Carrier Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, dray/cross dock/port operators, and air freight providers to support high-volume import operations.

  • Assess carrier performance based on delivery reliability, transit times, cost, and customer satisfaction metrics.

  • Implement and oversee key performance indicators (KPI’s) for all logistics partners, ensuring consistent service quality.

  • Negotiate space allocations and priority handling with carriers during peak shipping seasons to mitigate risks.

Supply Chain Optimization

  • Develop strategies to optimize shipping routes, container utilization, and inventory flow, minimizing costs and lead times.

  • Closely monitor track and trace status to ensure on-time performance and avoid premium air freight conditions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (procurement, production, and distribution) to align logistics with supply chain needs.

  • Leverage data analytics to monitor logistics performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement cost-saving and efficiency-boosting initiatives.

  • Drive process improvements to enhance visibility and traceability across the Asia-to-North America logistics network.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirement, and environmental standards across the Asia-to-North America supply chain.

  • Monitor and respond to changes in trade policies, tariffs, and import/export regulations affecting the region.

  • Develop contingency plans to address disruptions, including natural disasters, port congestion, or carrier delays.

MUST-HAVES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in global logistics and supply chain management, with a focus on Asia-to-North America trade.

  • Proven track record in managing high-volume automotive imports and logistics contracting

  • Three (3) to five (5) years successful experience at a people leader level.

  • Deep understanding of international freight operations, including ocean and air freight

  • Proficiency in logistics management systems (e.g., SAP, TM, TMS platforms, Integration Point) and data analysis tools – PowerBI, Exce

  • Knowledge of customs procedures, tariffs, and regulatory requirement for Asia-to-North America trade

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge and experience of logistics operations between Mexico and Unites States beneficial but not required

  • Ability to adapt to dynamic market conditions and work under pressure

  • Demonstrates ability to persuade, influence, build rapport, and establish a high degree of trust at all organizational levels

  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer applications appropriate to the position and assignment.
