Summary

We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Sr. HR Generalist to join our team! The Sr. HR Generalist will report directly to the Sr. HR Manager and will support the day-to-day operations including HR administration, leave administration, compliance with collective bargaining agreements and employee relations.

Roles and Responsibilities
(Essential Duties and Functions)
Collaborate closely with the Human Resources Team to drive strategic initiatives.
Active involvement in support of contract management, grievances, arbitrations and contract negotiations.
Develop and sustain a positive working relationship with shop stewards, union officials and union staff and adhere to terms of labor contracts.
Actively support all employee relations issues related to complaints, harassment allegations and union grievances including any external regulatory agencies by scheduling meetings between management, union representatives, and staff; participating in investigation and grievance proceedings; documenting all related activities; and representing management in all related issues.
Conduct HR administration to maintain up to date employee records and HR systems
Provide expert guidance and coaching to employees and managers on employment law, HR policies, procedures, best practices.
Manage employee relations by addressing conflicts, conducting investigations, and providing guidance on disciplinary actions.
Responsible for leave management including short-term disability and FMLA requests, to ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
Ensure adherence to all HR related State and Federal regulations and drive initiatives to maintain compliance as required, such as the monitoring of Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Plans.
Assists Sr. HR Manager with administrative responsibilities and special projects, including compilation of data, data analysis and report preparation/generation.
Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a "need to know" basis.
Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
Other duties as may be assigned.


Marginal Duties and Functions
Communicates benefit-related changes and assists employees with questions regarding benefits and/or leaves of absence.
Participate in union negotiations; prepare/revise union agreements; attend/coordinate union arbitrations
Ensures the Company complies with all federal, state, and local laws governing employment.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline
4-7 years experience in human resources required
Proficiency of MS Excel and Word applications required.


Preferred
Experience working in a construction environment preferred.
Experience working in an union/labor work environment preferred
Familiarity with all federal, state and local employment law preferred


Work Requirements

Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Ability to travel to/from various work sites
