BluePearl Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine in Paramus, New Jersey

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician (Licensed preferred) to join their fast-paced I nternal M edicine department at our Paramus, NJ location.

Pay: $25.25 - $51.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system .

* Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience*

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

  • Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential

  • Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $6.00 Shift Differential

  • Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift Differential

As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia, client communication and multi-tasking skills required.

As an IM Veterinary Technician, you will...

  • Perform drug calculations.

  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia

  • Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.

  • Assess and prepare medical records and patient history.

  • Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.

  • Operate Computed Tomography (CT) Equipment.

  • Utilize surgical mechanical ventilators and anesthesia vaporizers.

  • Manage hospitalized patients as it pertains to your service.

  • Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.

  • Additional job duties as assigned.
