A Brief Overview

Under the general direction, provides supervision to Hospital and Professional billing and follow-up operations to ensure timely billing and collection of accounts receivable and customer service to patients, insurers, and other departments. Assists manager in identifying issues, monitoring performance, and in problem resolution. Provides direction and supervision to ensure that overall Revenue Cycle accounts receivable expectations are met.

What you will do

  • Assists manager in supervising the team's receivable management process.

  • Designs appropriate work schedules for subordinate employees and plans daily work assignments in order to maintain adequate staffing to meet departmental needs.

  • Ensures that all staff follow appropriate billing requirements and receives necessary compliance training.

  • Ensures that direct reports perform timely and quality work.

  • Ensures the appropriate procurement, utilization, maintenance and care of equipment, materials and supplies allocated to staff within assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Monitors work outcomes and provide metric data for management.

  • Performs supervisory functions for the assigned program, section or unit by interviewing and recommending the hiring of new staff members; providing or arranging for training for subordinates; evaluating subordinates' performance; and recommending personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action to ensure adequate and competent staffing.

  • Provides overall supervision for billing, follow-up, collection, and resolution of all accounts within the assigned team.

  • Supervises staff through the process of problem identification and resolutions and work improvement techniques.

  • Sets priorities for team or unit to ensure task completion, coordination of work activities with other departments; monitors daily operations of the unit or sub-unit; recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies.

  • Additional duties for onsite Supervisor:

  • Supervises operations of Business Office Clerical Support Team.

  • Act as liaison between on-site team and operations team members.

  • Supervise, mentor, train, and coach office staff and delegate assignments to ensure maximum productivity.

  • Provide quality control over the work done by the on-site support staff, ensuring all paper processes such as printing, mailing, and receiving incoming mail is carried out completely and correctly.

  • Create and enforce best practices; come up with processes for carrying out certain tasks and keeping track of work

  • Create and maintain tracking mechanisms for monitoring performance metrics for the team.

  • Provide Administrative Support.

  • Monitor and maintain office supplies.

  • Facilitate incoming package shipments.

  • Work with field services and vendors to ensure printers and other office machinery are working appropriately.

  • Manage the Emergency Evacuation plan for the Billing Office.

  • Creates and maintains unit specific standard work, policies, and procedures .

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a work related discipline from an accredited college/university or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Experience Qualifications

  • Two years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

  • Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results.

  • Knowledge of billing procedures and third-party payer claims processing requirements.

  • Knowledge of information system and software relating to accounts receivables management and billing.

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirement related to the functional area.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate analytical thinking and business insight.

  • Outstanding poise in a fast-paced environment.

  • Problem solving ability while functioning as an active team member.

  • Establish and grow relationships with appropriate partners.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $37.42 - $48.65 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
