Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer - Hydraulics Responsible Engineer /Principal Mechanical Engineer - Hydraulics Responsible Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

**This position may be filled by either a Mechanical Engineer - Hydraulics Responsible Engineer level or a Principal Mechanical - Hydraulics Responsible Engineerlevel based on the qualifications listed.

Responsibilities include becoming the subject matter expert for the hydraulics subsystem, defining and championing system improvement initiatives as they become necessary, serving as an engineering representative in the supplier management team for all suppliers providing components of the subsystem, performing system analysis as needed to serve specialty engineering needs, defining and documenting changes and revisions to the subsystem, and providing direct response to subsystem needs as they arise from the user, the customer, and/or program leadership.

The successful candidate must be able to perform the above, but must also be able to prepare and present effective technical briefs on all of the above for all levels of consumption (i.e. user, customer, program leadership, etc.). The candidate must have experience working with diverse technical teams.

This position is in support of a 9/80 - 1st Shift work schedule.

Basic Qualifications:

Mechanical Engineer - Hydraulics Responsible Engineer (T02):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, etc.) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in subsystems architecting and design; or MS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, etc.) with 0 years of experience.

  • Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start

  • Proficient with typical office toolsets such as Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proficient at locating and examining technical data from Computer Aided Design and Product Lifecycle Management tools

Principal Mechanical Engineer - Hydraulics Responsible Engineer (T03):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, etc...) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in subsystems architecting and design; or MS degree in Engineering with 3 years of experience; or PhD degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, etc.) with 0 years of experience.

  • Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start

  • Proficient with typical office toolsets such as Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proficient at locating and examining technical data from Computer Aided Design and Product Lifecycle Management tools

Preferred Qualifications :

  • DOD Top Secret clearance preferred

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs

  • Experience with hydraulic system design and analysis

  • Experience applying Siemens AMESIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar analysis tools to hydraulic subsystems

  • Experience using CATIA V5 to examine 3D models

  • Experience using TeamCenter Engineer and Enterprise to locate and examine technical data

Salary Range: $79,300 - $118,900

Salary Range 2: $97,500 - $146,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
