Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Role Purpose

Lead a diverse team of engineers and technicians in a fast paced manufacturing environment focused on: safety, product quality, new technology deployment, manufacturing capacity and cost reduction.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide daily engineering leadership and support to the ceramic substrate and filter manufacturing operation.

  • Prioritize support efforts in order to maximize performance and minimize manufacturing costs

  • Actively participate in establishing department objectives, prioritization and resource allocation as dictated by business priorities or conditions

  • Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects while also encouraging team participation and growth

  • Develop/maintain systems to monitor equipment and process performance

  • Champion the development of fundamental understanding

  • Provide challenging assignments to direct reports and actively work with them to define and update career plans

  • Develop short/long term process strategies with regards to continuous improvement and cost reduction

  • Sponsor or lead projects targeted at cost reduction, new products, safety, quality, increased capacity and other strategic initiatives

  • Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Monday-Friday with some off-shift and weekend leadership support.

Required Skills & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Ceramic, or Chemical Engineering, or degree in other Engineering discipline with demonstrated manufacturing experience.

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in Manufacturing environment

  • Two (2) or more years of functional or project leadership experience

  • Use scientific method and engineering first principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes.

  • Ability to make sound technical, data-driven decisions

  • Strong communications skills

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization

  • Project management capability, particularly for process and equipment improvement projects

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Strong data collection, analysis, and visualization skills

  • Working knowledge of change management systems

Desired Skills

  • Supervisory skills, particularly in coaching technical employees

  • Six Sigma/DMAIC Green belt or Black belt certification

  • Basic knowledge of process flow and manufacturing cost drivers

  • Working knowledge of the mechanical engineering principles

  • Project management experience

The range for this position is $95,931.00 - $131,906.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
