The WIC Nutritionist assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the nutrition and outreach components for the WIC program. They perform comprehensive nutrition education and assessments with individual counseling and group education for WIC participants, including those with high-risk nutrition conditions. <li>Promotes breastfeeding as the preferred infant feeding method. <li>Conducts a breastfeeding assessment and provides participant centered counseling which helps a <li>mother initiate breastfeeding, establish a milk supply, exclusively breastfeed, and continue breastfeeding. <li>Addresses common breastfeeding concerns, issues breast pumps. <li>Screens and verifies applicants for income eligibility and updates household information as needed <li>Schedules appointments and provides reminder notices. <li>Collects information for the nutrition assessment process, including obtaining anthropometric and hematological data. <li>Conducts a complete nutrition assessment, determines program eligibility, and enrolls participants. <li>Prescribes, tailors, authorizes, issues, and reissues all food packages. <li>Provides and documents any basic participant-centered nutrition assessment/education (individual/family sessions and facilitated group discussions) for all participants. <li>Attends WIC clinics as needed and assists with clinic preparation. <li>Conducts program orientation, including explaining program benefits, issuing eWIC card, setting up <li>WIC2GO, and providing list of authorized vendors, as needed. <li>Prescribes, tailors, authorizes, issues, and reissues all food packages. <li>Provides and documents any basic participant-centered nutrition assessment/education (individual/family sessions and facilitated group discussions) for all participants. <li>Attends WIC clinics as needed and assists with clinic preparation. <li>Responsible for distribution, completion, and mailing of all voter registration forms to the appropriate state/local office as required. <li>Assists in the development and implementation of the annual outreach plan. <li>Participates in outreach activities and community events to promote the knowledge, awareness, and access of WIC services to the community at large. <li>Assists with the development and maintenance of the programs referral library. <p> Education: Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (DTR/NDTR) OR Bachelor's degree in an appropriate health-related field from an accredited college or university with at least 6 credit hours in nutrition and experience as indicated above.
