The Opportunity

This Lead Remote Operations Center (ROC) Operator position is based out of the Overland Park, KS office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform real-time operations of distributed asset power generation technologies, in the Remote Operations Center (ROC), to scheduled energy dispatch instructions.

  • Interface with multiple parties for identification, diagnosis, and resolution of site operations and maintenance problems, including the site O&M team, site owner, regulatory agencies, and B&V project teams.

  • Contacts potential and existing clients tosupportcontracts as well as gain new contracts.

  • Assist with Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D) teams usingpredictiveanalytics for proactive monitoring of power generation, renewables, process industries, and generation assets.

  • Provide advanced knowledge and expertise in distributed energy systems and use of control applications, standards, and document control process/procedures insupportof remote operations.

  • Schedules and coordinates operator schedules including holidays, OT, and coverage.

  • Creates tracking methods to track progress of the current and future ROC projects and achieves goals in various metrics, from contract signature to routine operations using KPIs.

  • Develops, maintains, and records compliance standards and procedures for both site-specific projects and the Remote Operations Center.

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Asset Management Team focuses on helping clients plan, operate, maintain, monitor, rehabilitate, and replace their assets in the right way at the right time. The result is that clients optimize asset performance, manage risk, and drive down operational, maintenance, and capital costs.

The Remote Operations Center Team is a specialized group responsible for operating and monitoring assets for clients as well as documenting and tracking progress of maintenance related work. This Lead Operator position will report to the Asset Management Operations Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience

  • Associate Degree, certificate, or trades/vocational experience preferred

  • Previous Operations experience related to Battery Storage, Solar, Wind, Simple Cycle Thermal Generation, or Combined Cycle Thermal Generation

  • Lead Operator role experience

  • Industry knowledge including technology and project management

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Power Plant systems and Processes

  • Basic knowledge of NERC responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles

  • Team leadership experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma required

Work Environment and Schedule

This position would require working in a typical office environment. The position may entail prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, and the professional would ideally be able to maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the workday.

The schedule for this role may require shift work, including rotating 12-hour shifts with both days and nights.
