We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Assistant to join our OB/Women's Clinic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for rooming patients, acting as a chaperone during patient exams, and assisting as a lab technician. Daily tasks include drawing labs, stocking and turning over rooms, checking and completing the autoclave, and removing linens from rooms at the end of the day. Additionally, you will prepare for the next day by organizing patient charts and lab orders and handling prior authorizations and FMLA paperwork.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients

  • Act as a chaperone for patient exams

  • Assist as a lab technician by drawing labs (daily draws vary from 5-12 patients)

  • Stock and turn over rooms

  • Check and complete the autoclave

  • Remove linens from rooms at the end of the day

  • Prepare for the next day by organizing patient charts and lab orders

  • Handle prior authorizations and FMLA paperwork

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Diploma (certification is nice to have)

  • High School Diploma

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a physician or specialty clinic

  • 1-2 years of experience doing blood draws

  • Previous experience in Women's or OB clinics is nice to have

  • Ability to communicate well and take direct feedback

Work Environment

The position is based at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in an OB/Women's Clinic that is part of a GME residency program. Each day varies depending on the providers and nurse practitioners working. Mondays are particularly busy with 20-25 patients in the morning and fewer in the afternoon. Tuesdays involve working with one surgeon and no residents, managing around 30 patients with a 10 to 1 patient ratio. The clinic has a great culture, and teamwork is highly valued. The team is currently short-staffed, so flexibility and openness are important during the initial weeks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
