Team & Job Overview

The Software Tech Lead role, part of the Tech Leads Chapter, is to provide design, implementation, technical support, guidance and advice for technical/software development and deployment activities related to the delivery of EDC’s digital services for the Finance Technology Family.

EDC’s services are a large mix of various cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and traditional on-premises systems. This role drives EDC’s customer experience (CX) focus with the wide technical expertise to leverage modern digital service designs, ecosystems, data management and technology.

The Software Tech Lead owns the technical and architectural execution decisions for the Finance Technology Family. Valuing simplicity and willing to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve Agile design. A great tech lead is eager to get their hands dirty, actively helping the Squad solve the biggest problems. This role coordinates design thinking, system analysis, solution design, functional and information integration, application development, deployment of capabilities and operational support and is responsible for coaching and mentoring more junior technical team members.

  • Accountable for the overall technological design and strategy of the product with the help of the Squad

  • Guide Squads on DevSecOps levers to improve productivity and product quality, including items such as coding practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment

  • Responsible for the infrastructure and environments strategy, ensuring that these are kept in-line with an MVP mindset of balancing “Intentional Architecture” and “Emergent Design”

  • Work with Product Owner and Architecture Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack and ensure that the product vision is brought to reality

  • Share responsibility with Product Owner and Architecture Owner for building reusable and scalable components

  • Provide the Squad a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality and enhanced security

  • Execute relevant technical work associated with the product backlog in compliance with applicable policies, standards and guidelines in collaboration with SM and team

  • Be hands on and engage in coding to help the Squad to develop a solution and solve all surfacing problems at hand

  • Ensure the ongoing reliability, system availability and integrity for the squad

  • In collaboration with the SM, identify and remove technical impediments

  • Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, identify gaps and opportunities for improvement

  • Mentor and coach, the technical team, specifically with code reviews

  • Coordinate in the execution of the technical vision and engage with other lines of business, vendors/3rd parties in activities such as solution design, integration, and delivery.

  • Engage in the squad's Test Automation Strategy (unit testing, regression testing, test automation)

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for processes, systems, and other efficiency improvements.

  • Act as a point of escalation for technical incidents, system monitoring, troubleshooting.

  • Support operations personnel regarding the production infrastructure.

  • Participates in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of complex technical issues.

  • With the help of the SM, align and focus on the Agile operating model

  • Support Chapter activities such as hiring process, writing and reviewing RFP, technical documentation and requirement specifications.

Screening Criteria

  • Completed hands-on application upgrades and implementations for PeopleSoft Financials 9.2 as a PeopleSoft Administrator.

  • Experience as a PeopleSoft Administrator with PeopleSoft Financials.

  • Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Management Information Systems or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in IT systems development, full software Lifecyle or related experience

  • Relevant experience in agile delivery including code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous deployment, highly scalable applications, application security

  • Advanced knowledge of cloud services and on-premises systems development and implementation principles and practices including service and data security and monitoring services.

  • Must be Business results oriented. Strong ability to translate business questions and requirements into technical solutions.

  • Strong Analytical ability with demonstrated application of technical problem solving and analytical tools and techniques. Ability to identify issues and risks and provide options analysis.

Assets

  • Experience with finance and financial services, products, loans, etc.

  • Experience with Data Driven Solutions (Data Lake, logical and physical data modeling, Data Centric Design)

  • Experience and/or formal training and/or certification in:

  • Microsoft Azure cloud services (Azure Synapse)

  • Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)

  • DevSecOps

  • Full-stack development experience (design, front-end and back-end development)

  • Knowledge of ASP .NET Core, Node JS, Java, Python or PHP, React and Angular Javascript

  • Knowledge of web, micro services, API integration services, JSON, REST, SOAP

  • Experience working with databases, relational or NoSQL

  • Experience with Selenium, Swagger and AppInsights and other test automation tools

  • Experience with SAST, SCA and DAST tools and methodologies

  • Experience with PowerShell and Cloud CLI Scripting

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)

Salary Range:

  • Tech Lead 18: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,355 To $123,140 plus a performance-based incentive.

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role will be performed from EDC’s offices in Ottawa, Toronto or Montreal.
