The Software Platform group is responsible for the software services and middleware that enables connectivity and advanced application features within next generation Ford vehicles. The team is designing and building the next generation software platform for the fully networked vehicle (FNV4) vehicle electrical architecture structured around high-performance compute clusters and zonal aggregators.

The teams are engaged in developing software in a variety of domains including service-oriented communication frameworks, base software libraries, stability and performance, vehicle diagnostics and enabling frameworks and services to support computer vision & AI/ML applications.

You will be a part of a high performing development team and will be encouraged to contribute ideas and solutions as part of your daily work. Test and Automation Development is in Python and follows an agile methodology.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

The Software Developer - Test and Automation is responsible for managing a team of validation / automation development engineers to ensure robust software for Ford’s next generation software platform. The successful candidate will serve in an expert capacity to lead production embedded software development projects to ensure compliance to test and quality standards, setting a world-class example for the automotive industry.

Minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)

  • 10 + years of advanced professional experience with Software / Requirements Verifications projects (Test Suite and Automation solutions for multiple Verification / Validation scopes and Integration levels).

  • 5+ years of experience in architecting and implementing Test Strategies.

  • 3+ years of experience proposing technical direction for Design Verification framework solutions.

  • 3+ years Python, Java, or C++ Programming

Our Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

  • Extensive experience with Requirements Engineering or Electrical Architecture or Software Architectures.

  • Experience with embedded system testing

  • Proven aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving

  • Detail oriented and adept at detecting and diagnosing software defects

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in modern software development methodology, such as pair programming, test-first/test-driven development OR demonstrated delivery of singular focus programming.

  • Demonstrated success creating evolutionary architectures with appropriate operational characteristics: scale, reliability, security, performance, etc.

  • Project leader for the execution of strategies for test design, planning and execution methods, and automation scripts used for requirements verification purposes, at multiple integration / solution levels.

  • Guide and contribute to incident resolutions and reporting, including Preventive Actions implementations into the Test Strategy.

  • Guide and contribute to defining Test Management Strategies (tools and processes selection / creation) used by the test teams on the planning, execution, and reporting phases.

  • Promote code artisanship best practices, quality and security standards; and leads/contributes to the improvement of them.

  • Build a highly collaborative, motivated team environment and partner with project managers, embedded system engineers, embedded software developers, and embedded software quality assurance engineers daily.
