For our pharmaceutical sector, we are currently recruiting a Medical Manager (M/F) - Immunology on a fixed term contract (1 year) to be based in our Ljubljana office.

The role of Medical Affairs Manager is to maximize company product value through high scientific quality communication as a therapeutic area scientific expert, responsible for discussing our products, patients treatment trends and studies in the therapeutic areas in which we are involved, on a peer-to-peer basis with defined audience of Leading Specialists (Physicians, Pharmacists, Hospital Managers, Board Members of Scientific Societies, and other stakeholders) and is considered a trusted scientific counterpart. Through activities in line with the Medical Affairs Plan, the Medical Affairs Manager is jointly responsible for the realization of short-term and long-term company goals.

Key responsibilities:

Customer/External Interaction

  • Respond appropriately to unsolicited requests for information and/or data for approved products and products/indications in development based on Medical Affairs/Medical information documents and in-live with Company and Slovenian Policies, Laws and Regulations

  • Keeping abreast of the medical and scientific knowledge. Continuously update knowledge of products, patients treatment trends and clinical activities and studies conducted within the therapeutic area in their region

  • Development and maintenance of a contact network with Leading Specialists, understands their needs, key value drivers, practical treatment patterns and scientific activities within therapeutic area

  • Communicates value of company products, including formulary discussions

  • Through scientific interactions, champions medical benefits of products and contribute to foster innovative approaches

  • Represents the company within therapeutic area professional associations in cooperation with Medical Affairs Lead and other MAF personnel

  • Proactive and reactive communication of medical scientific data to Leading Specialists and broader external healthcare related audiences: communicates directly and proactively scientific information on our products within the approved label

  • Meet with customers and researchers on a regular basis through meetings, conferences etc

  • Act as Janssen speaker externally i.e. present scientific and clinical data to HCPs at scientific events

  • Supports the set up and follow up of registries, Named Patients Programs, EAPs and other non-interventional Medical Affairs studies

  • Proposes investigators and sites for interventional and non-interventional Medical Affairs studies, if applicable

  • Participates in investigator meetings preparation, recruitment follow-up and study result presentation, if applicable

Strategy Development

  • Lead the development of the MAF strategy for allocated brand within therapy area

Internal collaboration

  • Feedback insights from customers in order to contribute to cross-functional (marketing, medical, market access, BI and communications) brand team strategies. Additionally, highlight key aspects of the clinical data so that they form the basis of key marketing and educational messages.

  • Engage with internal stakeholders on topics of mutual interest in order to encourage optimal use and/or understanding of Janssen products

  • Develop educational items (e.g. presentations) and deliver training for the business e.g. new starters, on an ongoing basis

  • Assist line manager with other general medical affairs and medical education projects as appropriate

  • Participates in preparation of local Medical Education Plan and submit request for approval of every single Medical Education activity via appropriate local company systems (e.g. iConnect) before execution

  • Has complete overview of the medical budget

  • Creates and/or revises ME materials from the very beginning

  • Is involved in local implementation and execution of Risk minimization and other ARMA activities in scope of dedicated products, as agreed

  • Contribute to regional (CE&Baltics, MSM) MAF activities and takes responsibility for initiatives and proactiveness

  • Ensure teamwork in prospective of Janssen Slovenia and regionally ensure that the interfaces between MAF and other departments are managed optimally

  • Review signatory of materials submitted for copy approval. Support Medical Lead in preparation of code case materials e.g. literature searches

  • Suggests and assists Market access, Commercial team and management in securing appropriate regulatory classification and reimbursement category for optimal product marketing strategy

  • Help with preparation of all necessary documentation for reimbursement from medical/scientific point of view

  • Ensures that Operating Company complies in all communications, with local regulatory requirements, medical facts and ethical standards

  • Ensures that Janssen requirements and local laws, rules and legislation concerning safety reporting are followed

  • Support the coordination of safety reporting requirements as required for Marketing Authorization Holder and/or study sponsor as applicable

  • Therapy area knowledge

  • Conduct and review literature searches, analyse clinical papers, attend conferences, courses, and other such events to be aware of the latest scientific and clinical advances in relevant therapy areas.

  • Attend courses and industry meetings, read industry publications, and discuss therapy area with colleagues to keep up to date with developments within the pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical medicine.

  • Monitor competitor promotional and scientific activities to understand their ongoing strategies, as well as to assess their compliance with the Code of Practice.

  • Leadership & Managerial skills

  • Overtake full responsibility and accountability for management of assigned projects / activities.

  • Fulfil other tasks or duties set by direct manager

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of a university degree (grade VII) in pharmacy or life science

  • Full competency in local language and English. Proficiency in Medical terminology (local languages)

  • Deep knowledge & experience of specialty therapeutic area, strength in research and interpretation of medical data

  • Relevant work experience, scientific acumen and communication skills in order to be accepted by Leading Specialists in peer-to-peer relationship with ability to establish and maintain open relationships within the organization and with authorities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and expert knowledge of company computer systems with proven ability to negotiate and communicate with internal and external customers

  • Highly customer focused with an awareness of the importance of business results

  • Innovative with the ability to coordinate and drive a complex and changing environment .

  • Productive and effective teammate who can intertwine different views and perspectives

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • B class driving license
