THE ROLES: Mechanical Engineering Intern, Electrical Engineering Intern, Controls Engineering Intern, Computer Engineering Intern, Autonomy and Active Safety Intern, Software Engineering Intern, Data Engineering Intern.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT:

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern your experience may include:

  • Prepare vehicle component layouts using CATIA and CAD software

  • Select parts or components for quality conscious design, i.e., weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing

  • Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance

  • Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.

  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems

  • Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components

  • Develop and exercise reliability mathematical models

  • Analyze field warranty data and prototype test data for failure trends

If working in the Research & Development area, some responsibilities may include:

  • Establish requirements for testing of fire-fighting vehicles and associated equipment

  • Create test plans, recommend resources of equipment necessary to accomplish the test, and formulate test project estimates

  • Conceive necessary fixtures and test apparatus and supervise their construction and development

  • Coordinate, supervise, and monitor testing; record test data

  • Recommend corrective actions needed to maintain schedule and cost targets

  • Communicate status and results of tests to internal departments, suppliers, and customers

As an Electrical Engineering Intern your experience may include:

  • Support Electrical Engineers in the design and integration of vehicle control/embedded systems development.

  • Select parts or components for quality conscious design, i.e. weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing.

  • Use 3D modeling software (CATIA and/or SolidWorks) integrated with analytical circuit software to develop wire harnesses for trucks.

  • Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.

  • Generate bill of materials.

  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.

As a Computer/Software Engineer Intern your assignments may include:

  • Write quality, maintainable, object-oriented C++ software.

  • Develop and maintain PC programs used for the configuration of truck specific programming.

  • Identify and control vehicle operation and maintenance risks.

  • Prepare and maintain the software documentation necessary to support the configuration of truck specific programming.

  • Test truck specific programming to ensure the programming operates as specified.

  • Participate in peer reviews and other engineering activities.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field.

  • Willing to travel or relocate to an Oshkosh Corporation location for the duration of the summer 2025 internship.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of various degrees of information.
