General Motors Senior Financial Analyst CCA Accounting in Oshawa, Ontario

Job Description

Hybrid: _ This position will be located onsite three days per week between sites at either Markham or Oshawa Ontario. Travel will be on an as needed basis in this role._

Dual reporting to the Controller of GM Canada, and the GMNA Controller of Customer Care & Aftersales, the successful candidate will be an active team member involved in monthly, quarterly, and year end activities. This position offers a great opportunity to further enhance technical accounting, teamwork, cross functional work, and communication skills.

Deliverables:

  • Complete monthly/quarterly close process for CCA Canada, as well as GM Canada deferred revenue models (e.g. GM Protection Plans) including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis thereon.

  • Establish and maintain high standards of documentation and support for journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Monthly and quarterly financial statement variance analysis, quarterly SEC disclosure preparation, as well as reporting packages for senior leadership, in order to understand critical movement(s) in account balances and activity.

  • Support the continuous improvement of the design, implementation and execution of processes and controls to ensure the overall accuracy of GM Canada’s financial accounting and financial statement disclosures.

  • Identification, interpretation and analysis of accounting risks and issues.

  • Understand GM SOX frameworks and facilitate the testing, reporting and remediation of GM SOX team. Coordinate timely remediation efforts with GM SOX as needed.

  • Develop and enhance a positive working relationship with financial statement and SOX auditors.

  • Critical team member of the CCA Controllership group, ensuring consistent treatment of similar items/issues, actively pursuing functional efficiencies.

Additional Job Description

Required Skills:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant, or comparable designation

  • Strongly developed oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with and influence a variety of different groups, including peers, outside consultants, and audit teams

  • Self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision, with a drive for results

  • Advanced Excel and SAP knowledge are strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of previous Financial Analyst experience
