Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.

Specific Job Summary (describe the nature and purpose of the position)

Responsible for performing critical analyses and developing tools/task aids in support of Procurement’s transformation initiative. Supports defining Procurement metrics across People, Process, Technology, and Governance and establishing mechanisms to track progress to plan.

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.

  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

  • identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes.

  • providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution.

  • recognizing and celebrating team successes.

  • achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.

  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)

  • Gathers and analyzes data including, but not limited to: spend details, purchasing practices, supply market info, internal customer requirements, benchmark information, supplier performance data, business cases

  • Synthesizes data to identify category insights and opportunities, develop detailed category profiles, and other outputs to support and enable Procurement’s strategic priorities

  • Provides recommendations based on analysis performed to category and sourcing initiatives. Identifies opportunity areas such as rationalization, supplier consolidation, and changes in purchasing process

  • Monitors the supply base for assigned category areas. Provides input to Category Managers on potential opportunities

  • Supports establishment of leading class processes, tools, and governance to enable Procurement to deliver value to Marriott Vacations Worldwide

Generally a professional position with specific knowledge in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology). College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, finance, economics, or business administration

Experience

  • 2 – 4 years experiences with business analysis, market research, financial analysis, procurement/supply chain analysis, supplier performance management

  • Demonstrated success in gathering data, conducting analyses, and generating high quality outputs

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to provide recommendations for opportunity based on analysis work

  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis and related metrics

  • Comfortable working with large amounts of data

  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization software a plus
