Marriott Vacations Worldwide Director Resort Operations Projects (Contract) in Orlando, Florida

Up to 6 month contract

Position Summary

Reporting to the AVP of Resort Operations, Business Planning, with a dotted line to the VP of Resort Operations, the Director of Resort Operations, Projects will be responsible for developing and supporting business processes and project needs for the Resort Operations (RO) Strategic Business Operations (SBO) initiatives. This role will support all brands under Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) Resort Operations, including Marriott Vacation Club (MVC), Westin Vacation Club (WVC), Sheraton Vacation Club (SVC), and Hyatt Vacation Club (HVC).

Business process areas include working with key stakeholders to align on priorities and milestones, assisting the team in providing support on documentation, tracking requirements, identifying and implementing process changes (including success measurements), and ensuring consistent application to overall company strategy. The Director is responsible for directing business process strategy and requirements that are aligned with Resort Operations SBO initiative strategy and justifiable, working with MVW leadership to gain approval to move the business toward the overall goals of providing aggregated dashboards, reports, and reminders to measure ongoing milestones and ensure every team completes the projects consistently, on target, and on time.

The Director is also responsible for developing the change management plan to support new processes and in support of the implementation of SBO RO initiatives for all operations business units. Responsible for developing, communicating, and modifying the project software to ensure the strategy and alignment of milestones, and due dates for site and regional reporting have a consistent product form for oversight of projects across the portfolio. Responsible for identifying, creating, and implementing a project management process using PACER project management technology.

Expected Contributions

Strategy Development

  • Responsible for developing business process strategy and requirements that are aligned with company strategy and justifiable, working with MVW leadership to gain approval to move the business toward the overall goals of Resort Operations, providing cost-benefit analysis, conceptualization, and success measurements as requested.

  • Creates a strategy for accomplishing agreed-upon goals and drives the cross-functional team toward the creation of sound recommendations and the persuasive reasons change is necessitated within identified processes.

  • Partners with the Resort Operations Internal Communications team to develop and direct the short and long-term communications regarding tracking, reporting, and celebrating success against the RO SBO strategy.

  • Assists in identifying and developing training and reporting communications for ongoing plans to ensure SBO Operations needs meet, and exceed, associate expectations.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the daily dashboard reporting, ensuring strategy is clearly defined and aligned with the overall RO SBO initiative deliverables. Providing assistance with communications as needs arise.

Project Management

  • Works with cross-functional process teams, at a Corporate, Regional, and Field level, to work on specific business challenges to develop recommendations for improvements.

  • Coordinates with all Corporate, Regional, and Site leadership to leverage best practices and processes throughout the SBO Operations efforts.

  • Represents MVW and Resort Operations with business partners, both internal and external, and liaises with those partners to identify key processes that impact associate and customer engagement and works to continually improve these processes.

  • Acts as the key contact to coordinate the work of cross-functional teams to ensure continuity with the needs of the business, alignment with current and future business goals and objectives, and delivery of required functionality on an approved timeline. Directs project timelines as requested.

  • Directs multiple efforts, ensuring successful completion within schedule and budget constraints, while following company standards and meeting business needs.

  • Assists in developing and directing the needed parts of process change plans with minimal assistance, including schedules, deliverables, requirements, and measurements.

  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or Project Management, or equivalent qualifying work experience in Resort Operations.

Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience with MVW or industry competitor; knowledge and experience with timeshare products and feasibility analysis is an advantage.

  • 5+ years functional experience within the MVW organization, focusing on project management process support, and feasibility studies with a solid understanding of timeshare operations, MVW resort portfolio, and the management company’s role in support of the associations.

Skills/Attributes

  • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan, organize, and implement projects.

  • Expert in project management and implementation, proficient in Microsoft Projects, PACER, or WAVE, with experience in developing project plans, reporting progress, and providing ongoing support.

  • Skilled in developing budgets, proformas, and strategic plans.

  • Strong leadership capabilities.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and effectively reporting to end users and senior management in both written and verbal communications.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders, fostering trust and influencing key decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously, involving various operational units, systems, and cultures, and balancing teams with a wide range of skill sets.

  • Competent in engaging in business development and technology discussions, including PC/desktop, hardware, software, database solutions, MVW systems, and SharePoint.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Visio, with the ability to create clear and thorough documentation of processes and workflows.

  • Ability to apply current knowledge to a variety of software programs and technologies.

  • Excellent listening and organizational abilities.

  • Strong decision-making skills.

  • Excellent administrative skills.

  • Limited travel required.
