Job Description

REMOTE AL, FL (panhandle only), GA, MD, MI, OH, TN, Dallas, TX, or VA.

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Network Engineer for a Fiber to the Home Internet Service Provider. The candidate best suited to the job will have worked for an Internet Service Provider (ISP) previously and have a strong grasp on BGP, MPLS, DHCP, CGNAT and OSPF. This will be a true network maintenance role on a fiber network, candidates coming from a background with FTTH are strongly preferred.

Evaluates and standardizes network technologies and architectures in relation to the infrastructure and service needs.

Conducts lab testing and documentation on various network platforms.

Works closely with NOC and field personnel to develop handoff documentation and training packages to ensure new technologies and services are supportable by the operations group.

Works closely with other engineering teams, network and field technicians, product development and OSS teams to design and roll out new data infrastructure, technologies, and services.

Travels to project sites and job areas as required -- 15-20%

Participates in a team environment, providing valuable input as an access subject matter expert within the team.

Skills and Requirements

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

3+ years of experience working in a similar role for a FTTx ISP

Experience with day to day core maintenance not touching implantation or security

Have an understanding of how to apply attributes to both inbound and outbound BGP upgrades.

7+ years' experience implementing & correcting the following:

IS-IS

BGP

MPLS

Segment Routing

Firm understanding of OSPF

Experience transitioning legacy systems onto new network & protocols.

Knowledge and the ability to design Layers 1, 2, and 3 of the OSI model.

Advanced Knowledge of FTTH services (DHCP, DNS, CGNAT, BNG, SIP).

CGNAT = Carrier Grade Network Address Translation

Advanced knowledge of modern service provider data networks, technologies, and protocols.

Knowledge of access technologies (xPON, Active Ethernet, FWA).

Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIP, or equivalent experience. Plusses:

Certifications or experience with Arista

Scripting Experience: python

Microtik -- router experience null
