We are currently looking for a Private Lending Specialist – Asian Markets for Toronto.

The Private Lending Specialist is part of a team of professionals focused on specialized loan and mortgage solutions to Affluent and High Net Worth individuals and their families. The Private Lending Specialist is responsible for developing and growing strong relationships predominately within Manulife Financials existing distribution channels of advisors and centres of influence with a focus on generating Specialized Lending opportunities (primarily Insurance based lending).

Key deliverable for this senior banking role is conducting broad Discoveries for each client; due diligence on loan and mortgage requests including consumer and financial statement analysis; and recommendation for approval of submission.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese (verbal and in writing)

  • Expert level of financial analysis of both commercial and personal credit facilities

  • Effective risk management of a banking portfolio including prudent monitoring of overdrafts and credit facilities

  • Ensure flow of business through assessing, packaging and submitting opportunities to the appropriate business unit according to bank standards.

  • Develop and grow our already strong partnerships with our distribution channels; comprising of approximately 40,000 Investment and Insurance advisors

  • Collaborate and build partnerships with Bank Account Management, Bank Retail and Insurance Wholesalers

  • Contribute to the growth and profitability of the territory by maintaining a regular Advisor call program to ensure effective management and expansion of each Advisor relationship. Support Advisors by working directly with centers of influence, professional advisors and end clients

  • Provide professional presentations to prospective clients as part of an integrated Deal Team

  • Develop annual, quarterly and monthly business development plans focusing on a clear understanding of goals, run-rates, gaps to plan and key strategies and tactics to close

  • Management of a pipeline and disciplined approach to focusing on critical activities.

Qualifications

  • University Degree or equivalent experience or equivalent industry education

  • CSC and or CFP would be beneficial

  • Practical application of planning concepts

  • 5+ years of experience in Banking including retail and commercial

  • Creative problem-solving and effective decision-making

  • Consultative with strong presentation and communication skills

  • Achievement oriented with strong networking skills

  • "Win-win" oriented negotiator who builds deep relationships with a client and family and is able to deliver difficult messages when necessary

  • Influence and work collaboratively with banking team in a demanding business environment

  • Ability to adapt to changes, technology and Team priorities
